Head jailed for illegal arsenal

A primary school head teacher has been jailed for four years for possessing an illegal arsenal of guns and ammunition.

Martin Wynn Davies, 58, from Wrexham, admitted illegally possessing 10 hand guns, two rifles and ammunition.

The court was told about Davies’ good service to the community during his 22 years as a head teacher.

He was a member of a gun club and regularly shot at a quarry near Ruthin.

He held licences which allowed him to keep a large number of weapons legally at his home as well as 7,000 rounds of ammunition.

Judge John Rogers QC said he had reduced Davies’ jail term because of his “impeccable character”.

The usual jail term for such offences is five years.

Sentencing, Judge Rogers said it was a sad case of a man who had led a “responsible and good life”.

He added: “The references which I have received eloquently confirm your value to the local community.

“In addition you pleaded guilty at the very earliest opportunity and you gave substantial assistance to the police.”

….vrs….

More men jailed in beach sex case

Four men who were involved in sexual activity with a young girl on two north Wales beaches have been jailed for a total of 10 and a half years.

The men had met the girl through Frederick Lawlor, who has already been jailed for an indefinite period for offering the 13-year-old girl for sex.

Gareth Vaughan Lloyd, 47, of Brynteg near Wrexham was jailed for three years and three months after he admitted two charges of sexual activity with a child which involved intercourse.

The damage each of you has done to that girl may not be known until many years have passed

Judge Merfyn Hughes QC

Michael Kenny, 54, of Gronant, Prestatyn, and Raymond Foulkes, 51, of Colwyn Bay, admitted one charge of sexual activity with a child and one of taking indecent photographs of the girl.

Kenny was jailed for 21 months and Foulkes for two years and nine months.

Alan Coleclough, 51, from Rhyl, admitted one charge of sexual activity with a child and he was jailed for two years and nine months.

All the men were banned from ever working with children and were ordered to register with the police as sex offenders.

House of sickness

June 26, 2006

I’m dying! I’ve got some sort of cold and a stomach bug to top it off too. Claire’s got hayfever to aggravate her asthma. And then to make matters worse Jack seems to be having a lot of pain from his hips and back which makes him cry constantly through the night keeping us awake when we most need our sleep to recover.

White Sunday

White Sunday was a tough one, but for the last photo of the week and of the group I thought it was fitting.
This is my street. This is where it all happens. :D

Yellow Saturday

Originally uploaded by swingnut.

Saturday is my favourite day of the week for the obvious reason of ‘No Work’.
However, every week day we start the morning with a banana and something (usually strawberries) smoothie. It’s delicous, nutricious and easy.
Yellow is also one of my favourite colours.

Purple Friday

With a wife like Purrplechick today’s colour was just too easy. So I decided to go for something obscure and unpredictable.
This is the inside of a deck chair bag.
To me it looks like a black hole in Space, or something very rude pertaining to ladies front bottoms.
I like it. It’s interesting.
It can also represent the feeling of the need to put one’s head in a bag by the time Friday comes around during the working week.
For me, however, it represents a different perspective.

Red Thursday

Originally uploaded by swingnut.

Today I found out that red is not an easy colour to photograph for this group.
Nevertheless, here’s Thursday’s Red.

I love red onions: the flavour is mouth-wateringly good. And tomatoes on the vine are just grogeous with a pinch of salt.
Other red things are not so good; the red mist that descends over me when I get frustrated/angry for one. The little red fucking symbol that tells me I need to plug my mobile into the mains again, is another bad one.
But enough of the bad things. Let’s just focus on the lovely tomato and smile instead.

My iPod has been my saviour in work sometimes. Music calms the savage beast, and all that.
I particularly like this iPod sock that Claire gave me :)

Brown Tuesday

Today was not brown. Not at all. Not one bit. In fact I can’t imagine what a brown day would be anyway.
Nevertheless, my subjects for Brown Tuesday are two of my favourite things: a funky coffee mug, and some home-made brown bread.

Blue Monday

Originally uploaded by swingnut.

This is my first photo for this group. (Read the link for the explanation).

Today (Monday) it rained after a long spell of glorious sunshine. It’s not so bad really because at least it’s raining on a work day instead of a weekend.
Why this subject? Well it’s my little Fiat Teapot car. And it’s blue! (of course). And I’m getting very attached to it recently.
