Why can’t I control my TV using my computer?!
No room for me in my head

Sweeping it under the carpet?
August 8, 2006BBC article on Sea-bed plan to store carbon
Storing carbon dioxide under the sea-bed could help to reduce global warming, according to US scientists.
The proposals involve pumping the gas miles underground then injecting it under the sea floor.
Experiments suggest that ice-like compounds would be formed in which the water molecules act like cages, trapping the carbon dioxide molecules within.
The storage capacity is enormous, they add. In the US alone, annual emissions of carbon dioxide could be contained in just 80 square kilometres (31 square miles) of seafloor.
OI! Americans! NOOOO!!!
August 6, 2006Chassis = “SH-ASS-EE” NOT “CH-ASS-EE”
Basil = “BAZLE” NOT “BAY-ZIL”
Linoleum = “LIN-OLE-EUM NOT “LINE-OLE-EUM”
Oregano = “OR-EEEE-GARNO” NOT “OR-EGG-ANO”
That concludes the lesson for today.
The aftermath
August 2, 2006Being in a traumatic situation, like a car crash, can have long lasting effects.
Luckily, although my recent accident was a bad one (car’s written off, and roof cut off) I suffered no broken bones, got out (well…got stretchered out!) in decent shape considering, and did not need to stay overnight in Casualty.
Even so I did suffer some injuries that seem to be sticking around longer than I’d like; I was very badly bruised in the chest area because I hit the steering wheel (no air-bags on the old Fiat), and my breathing was badly affected, and it still hurts to breathe in sharply or sneeze.
I also badly wrenched my thumb in the steering wheel, and that is still hurting and full movement and strength has yet to return. The other injury is minor whiplash for which I am going to receive physiotherapy this week. The whiplash took a day or two to appear, and has brought with it headaches (and yesterday I had the mother of all migraines!).
Other than these injuries above I also suffered bruising to my knees and forearms where they came in contact with the dashboard of the car.
Another type of injury I suffered for about a week afterwards was pyschological: I had flashbacks about the incident during the day and during my sleep. These flashbacks were a cruel reminder, and I’m very glad I managed to work out the issues in my mind so that they eventually stopped.
All in all I consider myself lucky. I’ve got appointments this week to see the doctor and physiotherapist, but hopefully I’ll be given the all-clear, and the injuries I still have will go away soon.
One thing is for certain: I’ve learnt a lot from this experience, and it’s changed me for the better.
Furious
August 2, 2006Something went wrong when I tried to upload my entire day’s photos from last Sunday at Penard castle. I don’t know if it was a problem with the card reader, iPhoto or the Mac, but I lost every photo from the entire day.
I was so furious that I couldn’t even talk about it. Today I am still annoyed, but mostly just frustrated.
Grrr.
