Today is the birthday of my friend. 

He doesn’t usually like to have his nose rubbed in it, so I won’t mention any numbers, but I’m not that far behind him anyway.

It’s at these milestones that one tends to think about times past and present, and perhaps a dabble with the future.  Today I have been thinking about how every year that passes has served to strengthen the bond of friendship, and how fortunate I am to have such a great pal.

Jan 2007:  Receive email from Apple saying product discontinued, but offering ugly alternative.

Jan 2007:  Cancel Apple order.  Place order with JigSaw24.

16/02/2007:  Recieve dispatch order from JigSaw24!!

17/02/2007:  5pm: Receive delivery failure card from courier.

17/02/2007:  7pm:  Drive to depot and collect parcel. Sigh.

17/02/2007:  7:30pm:  Arrive home and excitedly unpack parcel.

17/02/2007:  7:55pm:  iChat Steve to ask if he bothered installing the CD software that came with it. (No)

17/02/2007: 7:57pm:  Plug in new drive.  Drag and drop photos, video and music onto it.

17/02/2007:  8:00pm:  Happily watch EastEnders, safe in the knowledge that my data is currently moving to a bigger home

Following on from Steve’s sheep blog, here’s my attempt.

What’s the fucking point?! If you’re going to rain: then RAIN, otherwise don’t fucking bother.
What good is this half-hearted, pissy, drizzle shit?
That’s why I’ve decided this type of weather should be called Bum fluff weather; There’s no point in it. Either do it properly or get rid of it.

Gah.

I hate the January sales. What is the fucking point?! It’s so contrived, so obviously a set up, and so bloody annoying.
Much like the ‘encore’. What the hell is all that about?! We all know that the ‘last song’ is never the last song, and that the band will always pretend to finish but actually come back on and perform at least another two songs.

Cunts.

About 6 months ago I posted a blog about 10 things to do before I’m 30. It wasn’t a very serious post but they were mostly attainable wishes (apart from number 10, of course!).

Well, I’m down to my last 3 hours of being a 20-something, and I’m starting to see things a bit more seriously (and perhaps desperately!). I’ve realised that I have actually accomplished some of the items from that list of 10, namely 1, 6, 7, I’ve got a bit more of 5 done, and I’ve amost acheived 8. But really that doesn’t matter, it could have been a list of 10 other random things that I wanted to achieve within the timeframe (or not as the case may be), the point was/is that the destination is an important and significant milestone which represents the end of an era, and perhaps a last grasp on youth.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not desperately depressed or anything, I’m just feeling a little sentimental and nostalgic (as perhaps most people are when faced with being 30 Earth years old).
I can’t say that I have any regrets. I’ve certainly made my fair share of mistakes (and I still am), but I believe that making mistakes is something that we all need to do as much as learning from them. If I was pushed I’d have to say that my only regret is not having my friend still with me on this side of life to share the season’s holiday with.

With that in mind I’m on my way to getting sufficiently tipsy

It is. Death is certain. And when we all die (not all at once, obviously) we might hope that people talk about us (in a nice way). But what would they say? Have you ever thought about it? I have.

Maybe it’s because I’ll be thirty (30) years old in 3 days that I have posted this morbid blog. Maybe it’s because I realise it’s a good excuse to write down what I often think about anyway.
Whatever, my blogs are limited. There’s only so much you can do before your death. And at thirty the clock’s ticking quite a bit louder, it seems.
